In 1935 the light armoured reconnaissance vehicle (Sd. Kfz. 221) was introduced. It was built by the Eisenwerke Weserhütte and had a weight of 4 tons, a length of 4,800 mm and a height aof 1,950 mm. This vehicle had a MG 34 with 1,100 rounds of ammo mounted in an open turret.

Equiped with an 8-cylinder 3,5l Horch Engine, the Sd. Kfz. 221 reached a top speed of about 80km/h. The driving range was about 320 km. This vehicle had little armour with 14 mm on the front and 8 mm sideways and on this back.

To improve their firepower some 980 vehicles werde built with an additional 2-cm-KWK with 120 rounds to the MG 34. The front amrour was increased to 30 mm. The vehicles were called Sd. Kfz. 222. Furthermore the engine was replaced by a 3,8l Horch Engine.

The topic of this blog is to build a Sd. Kfz. 222 from Tamyia (#35270) with update sets from Royal Model (#325, #326, #344).

Unfortunately Royal Model added a wrong mesh wall towards the enginge compartment. In the original... more
