A couple of weeks ago I wrote up a review here on Track-Link of the Legend Sherman III conversion set (LF 1096). I really liked the set and couldn’t wait to start on it. So I thought, why not do a blog to show how the build-up comes together? So here it is.

With the lines drawn on, I now began the slow process of filling in the green areas. I chose Model Master Green Drab for the color since that seemed closest to the references I have.
This part of the painting is a bit slow since it’s critical that you get a very tight feather. The tighter the feather, the less brush work later. I know I mentioned that I got a new Iwata dual action airbrush just before I started this model but I chickened out and ended up using my 30 year old Paasche single action, external mix. Maybe next time.
Anyway, I held the air pressure at about 35 psi and got the spray to about 1/16 inch wide. I went slowly and always angled the airbrush slightly so the spray would go into the green areas to minimize the feather width.
I took me about a solid hour to do the camouflage.
