A couple of weeks ago I wrote up a review here on Track-Link of the Legend Sherman III conversion set (LF 1096). I really liked the set and couldn’t wait to start on it. So I thought, why not do a blog to show how the build-up comes together? So here it is. Up Next: What items am I going to use?

Chapter 19 - Dry TransfersSep 4, 2005
For the markings I decided to use the Archer’s Dry Transfers, set AR35174 ‘9th LANCERS, 1st ARMOURED DIVISION NORTH AFRICA (C squadron). This set has transfers for both the Sherman II (M4A1) and III (M4A2) as used in late 1942. I have never used dry transfers and I was a little nervous. I new that if I really blew it, I could order the Quarter Master’s Depot sheet which also has Sherman IIIs but then I’d be looking at a couple weeks delay in the project.

Fortunately, I had no problems. There are only a few transfers and they went on fine. I’m not sure that I love dry transfers (maybe I’m just a traditionalist) but the Archer’s set seemed to work per the directions.

I sprayed a light coat of Testor’s Dullcoat over them to protect them during the weathering process.
