| Turret modifications | Feb 5, 2006 |
As ESCI/ERTL turret is 2 mm short (height) and 2 mm too long (length), I decided do make this modifications. The height was increased with Moldimix (a Peruvian product, it's like Milliput) and sanded to form. The length was decreased with sanding. Then new cast texture was made with a mix of Italeri putty and Testors liquid cement.
Modifications were made to the loader's cupola with Moldimix. Several U-shaped handles were made of staples and added as the photographs I have shown. The rearmost long handles were relocated.
The gun mantlet was totally modified. I used a spare part from a Trumpeter T-55, the dust cover was made of Moldimix, all weld seams were made with Moldimix and some photo-etched parts, from the Eduard set, were added. The loader's access hatch were totally modified as seen on the reference photographs I have. The gun barrel was also modified.
A lot of modifications are still needed... |
