Modeller Build Logs

T-34/76 Kit-bash

I needed to do something different to off set the "Smart kit" syndrome so I looked through some of my books and thought of some of the models out there and came up with this one. I am using the Zvezda T-34/76 as the base kit and the Maqutte T-34 1940 kit for its early wheels and link to link tracks. Both kits did not cost that much and the Zvezda kits is not a bad model. On the other hand the Maquatte kit is only good for some of its parts. I will be building the tank seen from the Squadron T-34 book since the Zvezda kit comes with the exact decals to match. More to follow...

The model, for the most part, is complete. I have added details such as dirt made with Mr. Surfacer, battle damage and weld marks with a soldering pencil. I looked through old photo-eched frets for parts that could be used on this kit along with other items from my parts box. The headlamp was moved forward to match my reference photos and the wire connection cable was added to it. I had to check my reference photos close for the positioning of the spare fuel tanks along with other items as the instruction are very simple.
