Railway Gun DORA in 1/35 scale
Introduced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2006 was the 1/35 scale hand model/prototype of the DORA Railway Gun from a manufacturer in Hong Kong going to be distributed by a German company to the retail stores in Germany.
To make this huge kit become real and get into production a minimum of 2000 ea. need to be produced. This is the no. of preorders the distributor likes to get from the retail stores to minimize financial risk.

Now to the kit:
It is coming with double-rails and rail bed of about 2meters in length, the railway gun will be about 160cm of length.
It will be made from plastic injection moulds and possibly some resin and/or metal parts.
The MSRP is as of today Euro 499,-
The distributor is collecting preorders until april 2006, planned release date for the kit is august 2006.
We do only accept genuine and serious preorders.
We take € 75,- as a down payment. Should this kit for what reasons ever not get into production we will fully refund the downpayment.
Should the kit get into production and you cancel your preorders you agree that we keep the downpayment to cover our cost for promotion/marketing/advertising and other efforts to bring this extraordinary kit on the market. We think this is a fair offer.
Once production is going to run, we will also take low rates to pay down the complete price until the kit is ready to ship. This is another service to not hurt your wallet too much at once.
Its up to the modelers society to make this one come true, spread the word and inform your retail store, we do also wholesale.
FAQ
Will you produce the kit ?
NO ! We do not produce the kit, it will be produced in Hong Kong.
Since it will be produced in China, is the quality like that of a toy?
NO ! The manufacturer does OEM-production for other better known manufacturers and expect at least average quality, if not TOP. I have seen their Yamato in 1/144 scale which is of superb details.
Where will this kit be available?
We do not know all of the channels of the German distributor, we know it is going to be offered to German based shops, no info about international distribution.
Does the price include shipping cost?
NO ! Of course not ! We expect the kit to weigh at least about 10 Kg and size of the box is not clear yet. We do ship at cost worldwide with DHL or other forwarders. Be aware that shipping cost will raise the price of the kit when offered through our shop in the USA.
Will the Aftermarket produce detail-sets?
Of that I am sure! Once this kit is on the market the rivet counters will find potential to improve anything and the aftermarket is going to produce details sets that again might need some improvement. From my experience there is no perfect kit ever made. Since it will be the only game in town it will be the best you can get!
Will I get divorced when I buy this kit?
Well, that is if your wife does not love you anyway !
Will my husband love me forever if I buy him this kit?
YES! Definitely! And it keeps him away from the bars and casinos and bet-booths and of course from other women! And he will of course always think of you crazy chicken ! |
