A MAJOR REFERENCE by Samer Kassis
This book is the result of one decade and a half of critical research and thorough studies.
It contain 687 photos of which 184 black and white and 503 full color photos printed on very high quality paper with detailed captions in English and French.
The aim of the book is basically a historical description of the field situation of the Lebanese Civil War through photo-displays of the different categories of old and modern armored vehicles with their modifications or original profiles, so to serve professional military personnel next to avid scale modelers.
It is indeed comprehensive, for it covers typical characteristics of all the armies and militias that operated on the Lebanese soil i.e. the Lebanese army, Christian militias, Muslim militias, the PLO, South Lebanon Army, the Israeli army, the Syrian army, the United Nations Interim Force in South Lebanon, the Multi National Forces that came in the 80’s (US, British, French, Italian troops) and other factions who were involved in a conflict that lasted a little less than 30 years.....
This is a valuable reference that sheds the light on many authentic aspects of armor, among which decals or camouflages and is certainly a much helpful asset for those who have interest in exotic scale models and profound culture.
Such a colorful “guide” includes numerous details pertained to Western and formerly “Eastern” made military vehicles, used during one same lengthy conflict in the most crucial part of the world, the Middle East.
The idea of the book was originally not intended for commercial purposes. Hence, It was designed for the self-satisfaction of the author away from any possible hasty documentation.
Samer Kassis, who is a professional photographer and a prominent scale modeler from Lebanon, added a special angle or personal perspective in every item depicted with care, within the pages of the book.
30 Years of Military Vehicles did definitely fill a gap to modelers and answered all questions about Lebanon armor.
