| Subject: | Horch with Flak 38 | |

Hi all,
I recently picked up the Tamiya horch 1a towing the Flak 38. The kit on the box is finished in a late war scheme with a (you guessed it!) Waffen SS Flak Crew. Since this in an early war vehicle, and I'm not sure the SS ever used it in large numbers, I'm looking to change it up a bit.
I am interested in mounting the gun, or possibly another Flak gun in the back of the Truck. The only references I can find for such a thing are Craig Buchanan's conversion of the kit ( http://www.track-link.net/gallery/gView.php?gid=477 )and Shephard Paine's well-known kitbash with a Horch 1a and a Pak 30. I really like Shephard Paine's conversion, but it is with a different gun and he says his only reference was one blurry photo. Craig's model is also superb, but it leaves me with a few questions. I wonder why, for example the canvas top was left on the truck when it clearly can't be raised over the gun -- This may have just been a hasty conversion on the part of the Germans though.
Any thoughts, or better yet reference photos on the subject would be greatly appreciated! If anyone could reccomend a book which covers this vehicle, that would be great too.
Thanks,
Marc |
