I have to agree with Pat. I am also a guitarist and play locally in a band. I've been playing for 25 years and I tried boiling my strings one time. Not only did they sound worse than ever but they rusted up quicker and messed up the overall sound. I'm not trying to mock your advice but just saying I never had any good results from boiling the strings. Depending on the type of antennae, just pick the gauge of string you want to use. You can buy individual strings for a dollar at most music stores. I would recommend getting a "high E" string .10 gauge for 1/35 scale armor and the G .36 string for people who like to build or tinker with the 1/15 stuff (ie: 21st century, Ultimate soldier items). Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.
