| Subject: | Re: Lifespan of a Waldron Punch & Die | |

Hi Guys,
James, Don beat me to it as Roll Models bought out Waldron Details. I have mine for over 12 years and they still punch through what I need. So, the answer lies in how you treat your tools. Mine are lubricated in WD-40 before use. By this, I moisten a paper towel with the lubricant (can be any oil) and wipe down the punches. I inspect the dies for rust and polish out any oxidation I see. I also clean the acrylic guide.
Most important, read the label and try not to punch anything more than listed. I have punched up to 0.020 inch stock with the thinnest punch on the standard set. I only went as far as 0.010 inch with the thinnest punch of the sub-miniature set. While I have punched foil, I have NOT tried brass.
I rather stack thinner pieces instead of using heavier stock (however, I never came across a need to do so).
I hope this helps a bit.
Regards,
Saśl |
