| Subject: | Forming Plastic Card | |

I'm preparing to scratch build the 1939 Polish armoured train no 11, Danuta in 1:76 scale (that's British OO railway scale, which fits on HO scale track). I've done lots of small scale scratch building before, but this will be the largest bit of curving plastic I've had to come up with - the armour plate over the steam engine and the roofing of the two artillery wagons.
I figure the best way to get a curving bit for these long bits would be to get a metal can of some sort with the appropriate curvature and push the plastic card over it.
I assume very hot water would make the plastic remember the shape. Is this a good way to go? Or are there other better ways to form plastic card? I don't have access to vacuforming.
Thanks very much in advance. |
