Thats the way to go, heat forming. Use .75mm thick plasticard.
Experiment with some different thiknesses, but not too thick.
In this scale there should be no problem, but a long curved section will tend to warp, eg I did a roof section for a scratch 1/35th Bedford QLR, it warped badly, so some beefing up is necessary. An
alternative is to curve the sheet with the heat method, then superglue this to dowelling of the correct size. It gives a firm base to add all the extra detailing.

The greatest thing is learning new techniques.
