Are you building the kit specifically for entry in a contest? Or are you just building it for your own collection? If it's choice number 2, I'd just leave them as they are, and finish up the kit.

Who said straight arms were wrong? I've seen them on M36B1's on a couple occasions. So if you have generic markings, you're fine.
