I wasn't aware that Aber made a set for the old Tamiya kits. Thanks for the heads up on that.
As to spending money on a fender set for the Italeri kit, well, for what I'm doing their hull is more than nice enough once some clean-up is done and the lower rear plate rebuilt. I could use the hull from Tamiya's H or J but once all is said and done the cost to perceived improvement in detail ratio (a phrase I just coined ;-)) isn't sufficient to justify the extra cost from my point of view.
'Sides, the project is based on parts I had just laying around already. (OK, I don't have the fenders but I think they'll add a lot in the end!)
If you're curious, the project involves Italeri's Mk. IV H, Tamiya's Sturmpanzer IV Brummbar, MK Mk. IV road wheel set and SK18 tracks, On The Mark PE schurtzen, and various detail odd and ends in my stash.
So far everything’s working about as well as I had hoped it might. Now we'll see if I ever actually finish it!
