Here are a few more photos of the Staghound III I am working on. The Bronco Kit is excellent and I look forward to building many more of them. I can only give them high marks on this kit.
The turret is from the Italeri Crusader with a new mantlet and 75mm gun. The turret has been reworked to show the new hatches and turret fixtures. There are two different types of periscope in the turret so I scratch built the one on the right side to show a narrower and taller style while the second comes with the Italeri Crusader. The structure of the commanders hatch is made up with Evergreen strip and the welds are made from Milliput putty. The hatches are made from sheet styrene and the pistons for the opening and closing of the hatch are made from brass wire and aluminum tube.
Most probably a 4” smoke discharger would not have been on the actual tank but I wanted to busy up the turret a bit so I took one from the new set of Tank Accessories from Resicast. There are also a few smaller details yet to add to the turret.
The side bins are scratch built with plastic card. The bow gun plug is made from 2 part putty. Most of the stowage ammo cans come from Resicast as does the Jerry can, wire reel, and small box on the right rear fender. I cut the two ammo cans on the front fenders at a 45 degree angle. I’ve seen this in a couple of photos and thought it looked quite functional.
I’ve yet to add additional stowage made up of packs, tarps and other odds and ends.
I’m going to be turning the front wheels of the Staghound so I’ve reworked the front steering linkage, which isn’t shown here.
