My favourite tool, and the one I’ve had the longest, is a very ordinary (and very dirty) nail file. The blunt end levers the lids off paint tinlets. The pointy end is perfect for stirring the paint. It also helps me to apply filler - especially pressing it into the gap and then lifting away the excess, without ruining an expensive tool. The whole thing is a useful lever, brace, prop, whatever simple mechanical task you need that can be done by something four inches long. Also I tap my teeth with it when I’m thinking instead of modelling, which is most of the time.

Mind you, it can’t file for toffee. But hey, that’s what needle files are for.
