Paul,

I would suggest thin aluminum over lead foil. It will hold it shape better after being burnished and bent. I have made some Hetzer rear fenders and some small boxes using the stuff in the past. I used the aluminum from cheap baking pans sold at the grocery. Have also used drink cans after sanding off the printed finish. Drink cans have gotten much thinner and sometimes is hard to work material out flat. Hope this helps.
