Thanks for the input. I have not noticed any sink holes on my sets of the AFV T48 tracks. There seems to be many tanks with the “Duckbills” only on the outside. Reading “M4 Sherman at War” by Green and Brown (I did not make those names up) states that the army was experimenting trying to get the ground pressure from the Sherman down to 7psi and the Duckbill was born. It took the “Platypus” extensions to get to the 7psi.
They did mention that the Army had Chrysler develop spacers that were 4-1/2” to permit the Duckbills to be mounted on both sides and I feel it would be easy enough to do that but I think for know I will stay with the one side.
The “arm” I referred to is in Tamiya’s notes on the box which I am going to assume is just bad translation. The thing that concerns me the most is the gluing or omitting of glue as they show it on their box. From some reviews it appears that friction of the parts will hold them together. |
