I've built a full set of the AFV Club T-48 tracks and half a length of the T-48 (before discovering they wouldn't sit right on the particular sprockets I was using). I used the duckbills on the T48s (needed two sets of tracks) which I installed after the track was in place on the suspension; the two sets are still not enough for complete coverage, but the duckbills were often broken off in use.
L-to-L are a long hard slog, but I was satisfied with the results. A tip I picked up online is to dip the pins in a bit of white glue before putting the connectors on. The glue provides just enough "tack" to keep the connectors in place during the build process and remains flexible enough when dry to allow some play in the assembled track. Attaching the duckbills, though, takes away some of that flexibility.
