David,
While the two types of tracks look superficially the same... if you examine photographs, and not the model kits of Dragon (which are not totally accurate), you will see that the Sd.Kfz.251 (and Sd.Kfz.11) tracks are wider and bulkier than the Sd.Kfz.250 (and Sd.kfz.10). The 251 tracks also had strengthening ribs on the ends, and there are other detail differences between the two types too.
