Hi Arun,

I have a picture of the rearward facing MG position in the turret, which I believe was taken by the British in their evaluation. It's in Steve Zaloga's "Stalin's Heavy Tanks" from Concord, plus a couple of Japanse publications. I need to contact the Bovington museum and see what the repro rights will cost.

By the way, I was going through the KV-1S Tech Manual today and I found a couple drawings of the interior of the belly hatch. It's not completely clear (my Russian is crap) but it appears that there were six bolt spaced around the inner edge of the hatch cover. These passed through bolt holes in the retaining ring above the hatch and were held in place by wire loops. In the event of a need to get the hell out of Dodge, a crew member simply ripped out the wire loops and the hatch fell out.

Cheers,

Neil
