Hello David,
Thanks for your reply! I am encouraged that I don't have to go raiding another kit myself or having to order a new set of links from somewhere.
The kit must be one of those old Gunze molds re-used by DML. I started the wheels before I left for work this morning and I found that there were a great many of those little "divits" that have to be removed as well as the pour points being too close to the spru and the part making it harder for me to get in with my cutters. There is going to be some sanding aplenty when I get home tonight.
I keep hoping to come up with some faster way by using my lathe to clean up the wheels but since both sides are not hollow (like say a M-4)I can't just pass a rod through a bunch of wheels and sand them all at the same time.........
Funny, but I'm more of an Allied fan but my last 5 kits were all German. I suppose it might be after the "Dicker Max" I thought about doing another StuG as I have, for some reason, always thought they were attractive looking vehicles! Or I lucked out and picked up two old books in Italian that had some new StuG pictures, maybe that was the motivation........
As an OTB builder (sad to say but the greatest amount of PE I've ever done for a kit was in the Trumpeter Dicker Max) while there must be a litany of mistakes with this kit to boot my eyesight plummeted last year so I can now subscribe to the "if it looks like a Stug, sounds like a StuG, walks like a StuG, it must be a Stug" philosophy!
At any rate, David, I notice that you often post in reply to help out other modellers on this site as well as being busy with your own business (plus your own modelling too!) if I have recalled correctly so my thanks for your aid on this issue.
Happy modelling!
