Brandon,
I thought I'd check this out. A 38t track tink is 293mm wide, both the
Tamiya and Modelkasten track are reasonably right, approximately 0.2 of a mm
to narrow, which works out to be 7mm in the real world. In fact the
Modelkasten and Tamiya tracks have exactly the same dimensions. The
difference is the Tamiya track does not replicate the mud chutes in the
guide horns. Tamiya have made a compromise with the sprocket as so it holds
the track firmly by placing the teeth of the sprocket to the inner side of
the tracks (does anyone know what the name of the hole in the track that the
sprocket engages is called?). On the real thing the Sprocket engages the
outside so that the mud chutes are clear. As the Modelkasten track has these
, it is the cause of the problem. Personally I like the detail on the Tamiya
Sprocket and Idler, and I intend to use them now that I have a spacer.
regards,
Trevor Ware
