Subject:  Soldering problems, how do you tin???List thread.

Ok, i'm still struggling with soldering PE. i read that you should tin the tip of your iron and the pieces. well, how do you tin the tip? i have a 30watt Craftsman soldering iron, nothing fancy, but when i let it heat up and then try to melt some solder onto the tip, i just forms a ball and rolls around, it doesn't coat the tip. plus, i've seen that some of these soldering stations have a wet sponge, am i supposed to be wetting the tip or using it to clean while the iron is hot or what?

if someone could point me to a start-to-finish guide to soldering i'd really appreciate it. thanks guys

Dom
