I´ve built Tiger and king tiger tracks without too much hassle as well. The shrinking-thing has mainly been a problem while using smaller or thinner tracks such as are fittet to pz1,2,3,4. Although there´s obviously no rule here as i had huge difficulties with my panther wich also has rather heavy tracks. I dont know. I guess i should probably add that extra "maybe" link to the equation in the future. It doesnt seem like there´s much right or wrong to be done to be done here, except maybe limiting the amount of glue..
