While it is true that common solders are "ineffective" when it comes
to aluminum there are some specialty solders which will work on
aluminum. The problems with these solders are their relative rarity,
their poor strength and the need to carfeully preheat the item being
soldered. If you are lucky you might be able to find some of this
solder in a well stocked hardware store but you'll probaly need
a small torch to use them. Most of the times that I've seen this stuff
offered for sale it was either at a flea market or county fair so I
can't give you more details on where to buy it.
