It depends how "lost" the part is, really. If it was never in the kit at all, try the manufacturer if you can get hold of them. If you can't, try the importer instead. I've always found that they're willing to break into another kit and find the replacement that you need. Especially if you offer to pay. They need to maintain theirs and the manufacturers' reputations, and don't want to be saddled with kits that are technically U/S, so they'll take it up with the manufacturer the next time they order a batch. (Incidentally, this is why I prefer kits not to be sealed. If I can inspect the parts, I'm a lot happier.)
If you've lost them yourself to the carpet monster or similar (or in my case Sainsbury's; it would take too long to explain), and you don't have a spare kit you can rob (as if - !), the best source for spares is a forum like this. I've been helped hugely on a number of occasions and have been happy to help others too. Most importantly, the goodwill of forum members means that it's usually FREE!
If that fails, disguise it. Until my spare headlight turned up (thanks again Mike!) my M109 was going to have been driven into a wall...
