| Most mainstream kit companies provide replacememnt parts via the distributor for your country. So if you live in the US, you don't have to pester the folks back in Japan. Just call Tamiya on their 1-800 number and request the parts. They do charge, but you can also buy parts for kits where you might just want a sprue, decals, tracks, etc. and not the whole kit. I have found that if you write an honest snail mail letter to Tamiya saying you lost the part, damaged it, it wasnt in the kit, etc. and send along the bar code from the box, they send the part for free. Dragon offers parts replacement through Dragon USA. They also handle the kits that Dragon imports. For years, Rainbow 10 in Japan sold Tamiya parts. Now HLJ sells parts trees from most Japanese manufacturers. I think Revell in the US now handles Revell Germany parts, although in the past I have written to Revell's famous "Abteilung X/DepartmentX" in Germany and gotten prompt replacements. Same with writing to Airfix and Heller. Both companies have very good customer service. In the case of Airfix, I explained that I had bought a 1960s issue of an Airfix kit at a model swap, and it was missing three or four small parts. Although I asked to buy the parts, Airfix sent them for free... |
