Depends, if the barrel doesn't fit, I gradually widen the hole in the mantlet
so the turned barrel just fits snuggly. That way it remains removeable for
paiting and transport (to shows or club meetings).
For larger barrels or barrel with muzzle brakes that needs to remain in one
position I sometimes glue them with neoprene glue (sometimes called contact
glue). Superglue is another option but you don't get the working time contact
glue gives you.
I found it's always best to prime metal before you paint it. I use Tamiya
primer (the light grey one).
