The Lindberg kit is made from the partially complete Twentieth Century
Imports tooling. TCI started a series of Modern USSR kits, but went out of
business before any were totally complete or released. Lindberg picked up
the T-55, T-80 and BMP-1. The TCI kit is pretty much a plastic version of
the old AEF Designs resin kit, and may have been done in conjunction with
AEF.

The kit itself has a lot of problems, the main one being an almost toal
lack of detail. Everything is pretty much smooth and basic. You could
replace the wheels, etc., and add some new tracks for starters. I built
the kit OOTB with extra detailing and it looked okay. I made the headlight
cage, fuel tank plumbing, engine deck screening, AA machinegun, etc., etc.
The main gun has a square cross section.

The On the Mark Models photo-etch set is/was made for the AEF Designs resin
kit, and will fit the Lindberg kit perfectly.

I would not spend a lot of heavy duty time on the kit, but it is a fun
project if you realize what you are working with. The shape of the turret
is at least better than Esci's.
