You've gotten a good general impression of the difference between Eduard and
Aber from other people. One little thing I'd like to add is that Eduard sets
tend to include "surface texture" parts-- little bits of stuff that replace
some of the molded-on bits of, well, STUFF, on the model. The most recent
example I ran into was their set for a 1/700 USS JUNEAU (yeah, I know, but
it's got turrets at least). Nearly half the parts in the set were simply
replacements for bits of surface detail like hatches, ladders, etc, and the
photo-etched parts weren't any better looking than the styrene they wanted
you to replace. The Aber sets tend to avoid this sort of thing except for
hinges. |
