Olaf-
If you have the brush-on style, you can use it as a small seam filler
without having to sand away detail. Use a fine brush to apply it in the
seam so that the Mr. Surfacer fills the gap and extends onto the surfaces
next to it. Let it dry for a few minutes, then moisten a rag or Q-tip with
denatured alcohol and pull it across the seam. With light pressure and a
few passes, you should end up with the stuff only in the gap. This works
better with the 500 than the 1000 in my experience.
You can also use it to texture surfaces, but you have to move fast. One
last - it makes a pretty good primer for small metal bits like PE or brass
rod.
Oh, in case you haven't figured it out, it cleans up with lacquer thinner.

Hi guys,
I usually try to do something new with each model I build. One thing I'm
trying out now is Gunze's Mr. Surfacer. AFAIK, I can paint it on to find
uneven parts/holes etc. in my work, and to fill small holes/gaps. When it's
dry, it appears that I have to clean it up in the same way I do putty.
Anyway, those are my observations so far. Does anyone have some good tips or
comments?
Thanks a lot,
Cheers,
Olaf |
