Hi, Guys!
I'm one of the "travesty" fellows. In my opinion, all of Verlinden's
Sherman hulls and turrets are less than desirable.
I believe that it is far easier, and more accurate, to start with Tamiya's
M4 and Tank Workshop's conversion set. It is less work to convert the hoods
to the welded variety. I did a modified version when I converted the MP
M4/M4A3 kit to one with the early cast hood, which is similar to the welded
one.
If you do stick with Verlinden, don't forget to tone down the welds around
the hoods also. I forget, are the hoods themselves separated from the
turret splash ring? They should be. I'd also replace or detail the hatches
themselves.
Just my 2 cents worth. :-)
