| Subject: | Re: Tips to build Modelkasten workable tracks? | |

I have been through more than a few sets of the ModelKasten tracks (Tiger I,
KV, Pz III, Pz IV and T-34) while these are not the most delicate of the
sets, the process for gluing the links has always been the same.
I use Testors liquid Glue exclusively for this process. I tried regular
testors gel type in the black bottle, super glue and tamiya cement with the
orange cap.
The steps are simple.
Cleanup a pile of links
Break off a set of pins
Fill up the little jig with links (4-8 depending on the vehicle)
Remove the brush from the glue jar and set it up side down on the lid.
Pick up a pin by the sprue.
Run the pin through the bristles of the brush to pick up some glue.
Hold the pin for couple of seconds to let the glue start working.
Push the pin into the hole on the link.
The results have been pretty good so far. I think that the real key is
letting the glue set slightly before inserting the pin.
Using this process I was able to completely build a set of KV tracks over
this past weekend in roughly 8 hours total.
Thanks,
Tim Loungeway |
