This is another one of those late WWII German “paper Panzers” that were
never built, in 1/1 scale that is...
I’ve just finished building mine in 1/35. If you look up in this forum,
you’ll see other photos at an earlier stage of construction.
This is the FCM resin/white metal conversion for the Tamiya Panzer IV H
(new tool) or Panzer IV J. I based mine on a Panzer IV H. FCM also
includes an aluminium turned barrel.
The FCM conversion is very expensive and has a very irregular quality of
mouldings, some are excellent but many are distorted :-(
If you have basic sratchbuilding skills (I have not) I’d recommend
scratchbuilding over buying a conversion or kit of this vehicle as the
CMK combi kit of the same vehicle is very poor also.
On the photos the ocre parts are Tamiya’s except the driver’s visor (so
poor on the FCM part that I had to replace it) which is a modified part
from an Italeri Jagdpanzer IV. The grey parts are mostly FCM resin but I
had to use Dragon roadwheels (some steel, some regular) because the FCM
wheels were badly shaped. I also used Dragon return rollers, Dragon
individual track and the cover for the MG slot is from a Dragon
Zwischenlosung kit.
I now have to paint and weather it...
Any comments/questions are most welcome.
Cheers,
Christophe |
