Well Dave I must say you picked a great set of PE for your Tiger II. I used this
set a while back and it seemed like forever before I got around to painting it.
Disaster struck after I had the base coat on and was starting to apply the camo.
Air hose got caught on the gun barrel and down came the great Tiger from about 4
feet and in slow motion it and all those tiny Aber PE parts were scattered on
the garage floor like grains of sand.
Anyway what was left of the great Tiger is now a practice piece. 5 months of eye
strain for nothing. I learned alot of lessons that day.
The main thing is I would have never attempted the Aber set without a Hold &
Fold. I had a friend that owns a machine shop make mine. Could see spending the
$40.00 on something so simple. I did quite a few Eduard sets before I had my
Hold & Fold made and it was really tough. I started out using a 4x4 piece of
tempered glass to cut on , then I read a article somewhere where they used a
piece of aluminum to cut of the parts from the frets. I glued a thin sheet of
cork to the bottom of the aluminum to keep it from sliding around. I also found
that using a # 11 Xacto blade was getting very costly. I started using a very
small curved blade and got better results and fewer lost parts. Go out a get
several types of tweezers at your local Wal-Mart makeup department and this will
help out also. Good luck in the future.
