Interesting, I had never thought about this idea. Works with a burnt up tank
for sure.

One possibility would be to use ModelKasten Sherman tracks. They build up
with rods sandwiched between two halves of pads and separate end
connectors(for a total of over 1000 parts for a set of tracks:-/). I would
think you would be able to just leave off the pad halves and you would have
it! Neat thing is you could have part of the track burnt, part still there
and it would all be consistent.
