Well, here's an update for those who care...
I've finished the running gear, and attached all the wheels except the
idler assemblies. The sprockets are pushed in place, all to aid in
installing the tracks. I will attempt the indy links. I imagine they can
be made "semi-workable" but that may be beyond me.
The odd way of attaching the bogie assemblies ( a tab inserts into the
hull at the top of the assembly, a pin on the back of the bogie truck
goes into the hull, and the articulation point on the truck mates with a
knob on the hull) is a bit fiddly, but appears to result in nice square
assembly, It was easy to align the wheels and put the trucks on, but
there are now tabs sticking into the interior.
Using the AFVInteriors pictures as a guide, I have started on the hull
interior. The propellor shaft cover goes together with an odd assembly ,
but one that results in no visible join to fill. Likewise the front of
that assembly (transmission??) is assembled from a number of parts,
resulting in no visible seem. I have not added the ammo bins supplied,
because they are wrong for the Honey. The fire extinguisher is listed as
going on the driver's side of the propellor shaft cover, but the
illustration shows it on the other side. I have some holes to fill on
the driver's side now.
Fit of the parts for the interior is excellent. There is not much fine
detail onthese parts, and now I'm at the point where I need to start
adding items not included in the kit. I dry-fitted the interior to the
hull. Those tabs from the bogie assemblies get in the way, and are very
visible. Some gentle force got the interior in place though. I even got
it out again!!! This will be more difficult once the interior is
completed. There are no padded surfaces provided as needed, so once we
move into our house and unpack, I'll get the milliput out!
On a side note, we have a closing date for our house, and may even be
able to move in soon!!!
