Hi Mike,
I've just been taking apart small electric motors from my brother in law's
broken VCR and I found a motor that has windings that are as fine as a hair.
I'm sure the wire is fine enough to use as an aerial wire for a smallscale
airplane. I put the digital calliper on a strand and it measures .0025 of an
inch.
I use the various wire thicknesses for my modeling projects.
I hope that helps.

tried stretched sprue, but it is not a technique that seems to work for me.
Can any one suggest other methods ? I was thinking of trying thin nylon
fishing line, but am not too sure about that. Thanks for any advice. MikeC
