Eric,
To join the tracks:
Take a hot soldering iron, and hold it close to the pins to soften them. Quickly mash them flat with a finger. This will hold the tracks together. Make sure you get them nice and soft before you mash them, but don't touch them with the iron.

Then, make them look like they are sagging by tying them down to something below, like a axle, in the appropriate places with black thread.
