Hi Jim,

Barkmann fought in several Panthers, not too sure about the Late G although
he did fight in the Ardennes and thereafter so a late G is one of his
possible mounts late in the war.

Check out www.achtungpanzer.com, it is mentioned there that one of his first
mounts was an Ausf D number 424 in Russia in late 1943. There are details of
some of his famous fights as well but sadly only a couple pictures including
a good one of the above-mentioned 424. Some other links of interest are:

http://www.geocities.com/alkantolga/panzerace/photos.htm
http://www.geocities.com/alkantolga/panzerace/ernst.htm

The second link lists his mounts as being 221, 424 and 401 in Russia,
Normandy and Ardennes respectively.

David.
