Hello Thomas,
What were the "major flaws" of the old Azimut conversion exactly?
They have rereleased the conversion, adapting it for the Tristar kit, I don't know if they have reworked parts other than the superstructure (to make it fit the new kit) as I don't have the old conversion. The resin castings and photo-etched parts are flawless.
It's available from Azimut as a conversion set but I bought it as part of a package set.
The Azimut package set is a complete kit with the Tristar kit (minus turret and figures), Tamiya Flak 38 and Azimut resin/PE conversion. The package is sold for 65.50 Euros (about same amount in US $) I bought it on special at Euromilitaire in September for 55
Euros.
In my experience, New Connection have some interesting items, but they are expensive, and in the kits/conversions I have seen the castings were far from flawless.
Also have New Connection improved their mail order service? I've heard too many horror stories to try ordering direct from them.
Advantages of the New Connection are the metal barrel (I'll use a Modelpoint one which is the nicest turened 20mm I have seen) and the ammo trailer (Azimut sell an ammo trailer separately).
Cheers,
Christophe
