Hi Randall,
I have in my possession Jordi Rubio's, Elefant's, and New Connection's
offerings. I have seen the ModelPoint and Armo barrels as well. They are
all nice but NONE (the only exception being the metal, resin, and etch
barrel from Royal Models Sd.Kfz. 250/9 upgrade set) have the vents at the
neck of the flash suppressor.
From experience, I have found it possible to drill out Tamiya's barrel and
get the same effect as any of the aforementioned metal sets I own. Of
course, if the kit's barrels have mold shift, you will never have a round
barrel and must then replace them.
As for the vents, I used an Eduard PE set, designed for Tamiya's kit, to
help me create these vents. More work than just replacing the barrel but
far more accurate and rewarding.
My two cents of advice,
Saul Garcia |
