I picked up a tip that might get even the most stubborn mold grease off when
looking for how to remove chrome plate from plastic - Castrol Super Clean!
It seems totally tolerant of plastic and after a few minutes soak, will
remove pretty near anything (or with the help of an old toothbrush).
Wear rubber gloves, as it removes the oils from your skin just as well, and
rinse thoroughly after soaking. My guess is that it will work equally well
for old paint, although I haven't tried it. Try an old plug of resin first,
but if it won't hurt plastic, it should be OK for resin as well.
Look for the stuff in the Automotive section - it's a cleaner/degreaser.
