While a long time user of the stretched sprue method, I have found that
they almost always take a curl to them over time. Even if straight when
stretched, may will curl over after a few years. If yuo are doing an
antenna that is tied back then this isn't a problem, but if yuo are
making some of the WW II British rod type antennas, then it won't do at
all. The early war No 11 set antennas were 3/4 inch in diameter so a
thin sprue won't do. I mostly use brass wire rods for my antennas.
