Another thing I did was to swab the areas to be zimmeritted with rubbing
alcohol. This removes all traces of grease and mould release agents. The
Zimm-it-rite stuck pretty well after this. Frankly, now for large flat areas
I prefer to use just green putty and keep the Zimm-it-rite for curved or
complex areas like the glacis plate of a Pz. IV (like in my picture) where a
longer working time is desired.
