Hi Brian,
Some barrels are more designed for the old Tamiya kit than Dragon's. The external gun mantlet is not the same on the Tamiya and Dragon/Revell/Gunze/DML kits, from memory I think the locating hole goes all the way through on the Dragon/Revell/Gunze/DML, but not on the Tamiya one.
First thing you got to decide is which type of barrel you want , threaded end, with muzzle brake or plain end with "collar".
For a very early vehicle I'd go either for the muzzle brake version or the threaded end (more common). For a late "early" (if there is such a thing LOL) go with the collar one.
Personally I would pick the Elefant barrels, those deisgned for the Jagdpanzer IV early from Dragon/DML or Revell. I'll try to find the exact reference number.
Another "accessory" I would recommend for the Dragon kit is Attack's excellent resin Zimmerit set, =top quality=.
Cheers,
Christophe
