I use wire from one of those "picture hanging kits" that are sold in home
centers, hardware stores,etc. It is made of fine strands, twisted together
and has no spring to it. You can cut off and drill out the ends of the
plastic tow cables that come with the kit and glue them onto to the wire
with CA glue. Paint them up and they look good because you can put a
realistic sag into the cable where appropriate.
