First rough up the surfcae to be coated with some steel wool or sand
paper.
Tamyia makes a yellow polyester putty that some folks have used with
success- personally the white milliput has worked out well for me.
Apply the putty to the surface of the model, and spread as thin and
uniform as possible. Smooth with water or what the Tamyia material
suggests. Two methods:
1) "Raking"- with a saw blade or Tamyia tool, drag along the surface of
the putty, jiggling the tool up and down every few millimeters. Clean
the tool frequently,
2) Imprinting- with a screwdriver or Zimm-It -Rite tool stamp the putty
with the pattern.
If the putty does not retain tha pattern, allow it to dry a little
longer, restore the smooth surface and start over. The working time on
Milliput is 'as soon as possible'. If you are not happy with the result,
scrape it off and start over. My Tamyia Tiger required a couple trys,
although I did it in the dark days of Squadron white stuff.
Note- Tigers, particularly lates, have a finer zimmerit pattern on the
hull than on the turret. This stuff makes for a great looking model you
will be proud of. Good luck.
Jim
