Hi John,
Did you protect your paint job first before doing the wash? I usually as a lot of other modellers use Future Acrylic Floor Gloss.. I usually do one coat before decals (to make that application easier) then another after to protect the paint job for the wash.. I let this second coat dry/cure for at least 3 days.. this is usually sufficent to protect your paint job during the wash... You can spray the Future straight from the airbrush (no thinner required)..
